OFFICIAL STATEMENT REGARDING OUTLAWZ CLAIMS
On February 11th 2009 The Outlawz signed a management contract with Uptown Entertainment Europe. This contract, amongst many other terms clearly stipulates, that the Management Company is to be reimbursed for their services with 20% of the gross earnings of the group throughout Europe.
Now to the events, as they occurred starting with deposits received on behalf of the Outlawz. As this is the Outlawz tour and UEE as the Management is not booking the group but rather has been hired to act as Management on their behalf, dealing with promoters, booking agents etc. we have received three 50% deposits and 1 sponsorship payment, which clearly and transparent to Mr. Rufus Cooper aka Young Noble was reserved for their flight tickets, accommodations travel and food as none of the booking agents or promoters, would have paid for their flights to come to Europe, nor did the group provide upfront funding for their own tour!!!
The tour was from the initial stages tightly budgeted, as there was simply no interest by anyone to book the show of the Outlawz and even ticket sales were sluggish. Mr. Rufus Cooper however, still demanded that we provide him with 80% of the ticket sales, in fact, he demanded additional funds to be sent to him a few hours prior to the already booked and paid for flight. He claimed that the other group members needed this money right away or they would not board the plane. These funds, were strictly reserved for flights from Hamburg to Stuttgart, this placed the Management under immense pressure, having to plan for alternative transportation at the last minute.
Uptown Entertainment Europe, namely Joe Anan and Melanie Sellers distance themselves from the claims of Mr. Rufus Cooper and additionally have all necessary documented proof, that the claims of Mr. Cooper brought forward are in fact a delusional even outright slanderous claims! In fact, Mr. Cooper embezzled funding to be paid to UEE, as the group is responsible for the expenses incurred on their behalf and per the contractual agreement any and all promotional, travel, tour etc. expenses are to be paid by the group. In the event, that the management fronts advances, these must be repaid! The group has simply left their Management liable for these expenses and debts and attempts to wash their hands of it ALTHOUGH they are according to our contract immediately responsible for the same.
It is merely OUTRAGEOUS, for Mr. Cooper to make such claims in particularly since he has not footed a dime towards this tour and in fact has done nothing but extort funding, committed verbal and written threats, made a mockery of the Outlawz/ Tupac fans and all companies, wishing to do business with US Artists. It is exactly this behaviour, which makes European booking agents, Clubs and local Artists shy away from doing business with foreign Artists. Mr. Cooper signed a Management Contract on the groups behalf, which has become a part of the lawsuit filed!
It also appears, that the Outlawz, in particularly Mr. Cooper has a habitual pattern of screwing over Management as well as promoters. Let us take a look at the Australian tour, or a tour that was done in Germany a few years ago, or rather the signing with Young Buck..s label, where Noble claims “Young Buck didn’t have his money right”, we did not really sign with him! Or the promoter in Australia did not know what he was doing, so we left him alone and went on, on our own. Continuously hustling people who are trying to assist the Outlawz in upholding the memory of Tupac Amaru Shakur.
UEE has acted in good faith with these Artists, which have until now not reimbursed UEE for any of their Management services nor have taken responsibility for their debts!!! In no shape or form has UEE stolen any funds from the Outlawz or proceeds from this tour as there clearly were no profits!!! The Concerts were poorly visited and this not due to poor promotion, this is merely due to lack of interest. Surely the Outlawz have fans, but it is not enough to pay the debts and bills they have incurred. Clearly! This can be seen by the three performances they have done so far. In Italy no more than a little over a hundred people showed up as did in Berlin and Stuttgart! This is the first performance in Italy, imagine the bills and expenses the person/ venue booking them is dealing with! Again UEE has been hired as the Management, not a promoter and is not responsible for paying the bills of their artists. The Management gets paid for their services, which in this case were STELLAR, considering that most fans are fans of Tupac and NOT the Outlawz! UEE has given the Outlawz more exposure and recognition in Europe than they ever had! This was done through, television, radio, magazines, printed and digital advertisement, internet and multiple social networks and blogs to include Google ads, which were ran for over 4 months! In fact there were people that did not know that the Outlawz still exist and became aware of their existence through our efforts!
Regarding the rider information of the Outlawz, this piece would not really mean a thing to the Management, but rather the promoters, which we were instructed to sent it to. UEE set up 4 shows on behalf of the Outlawz, as no one wanted to book them to begin with. Referring back to the rider, Rufus Cooper falsely claims therein, that Kastro another member of the Outlawz is on this tour, however when Mr. Anan mentioned Kastro, Mr. Cooper states that Kastro has not been touring with them in 4 years and it is what it is, he is just too comfortable with his royalty checks and don’t really want to get on his grind!
With this downright dirty and slanderous behaviour it is no wonder that one has to produce songs about wanting in.
This matter will be resolved through the German legal system no doubt! This is not a question of fame, but a matter of who is LEGALLY correct. It has got to stop, the music industry is suffering already and honest artists, management and promoters on their grind to make it do not deserve to be conned by people like Rufus Lee Cooper III!
